  1.                               Lymphadenitis
  2. SYMPTOMS. There is enlargement of the lymph nodes such as those in the
  3. groin, neck and under the arms. The area will be red, tender, painful and
  4. may be abscessed. The lymph nodes are sometimes mistakenly referred to as
  5. lymph glands.
  6. CAUSES. Strep and staph bacteria is usually the cause of the inflammatory
  7. lymph node reaction although it may be due to any bacterial, viral or other
  8. infectious agent. It may be due to an infection in a tooth, finger or such.
  9. TREATMENT. Antibiotic therapy is usually prescribed for the infection.
  10. .Pain may be relieved by use of ice packs or hot, wet applications.
  11. .Drainage of abscesses by incision may be required.
